Account Registration

You need the account to be recognized by the Services and get the rights like Operator (@) in some your channels.

You can use the webinterface or the instruction below.

For experienced IRC users:

The commands:

For all novice users:

First of all, an explanation: By registering an account, we mean that you authenticate to an account. Also, you can register (Reserve) an account with NO nickname, after you disconnect (quit), your nickname can be used by anyone else. There is a difference between Nicknames and Authnames. Nicknames is the name that you are currently chatting with, Authname is the name of your login account. A better example of this is ICQ. Every user has a User Identity Number (UIN) Every user also has a chat name that is shown with every message. The UIN is used for login purposes and the chat name shows who you are to other people.

Important: We excuse all the german text at the pictures. We already work on a german registration procedure. But with the help of this text their should be no problems. Otherwise contact the Support (#help).

Ok, now we start: As we said before, the command is: /AuthServ REGISTER account password email

Explanation:

In any window in IRC (most people use the Status window of the network) we enter the information. This way, the server knows exactly what information it is looking for. Image:Asregistration.jpg

In the shown example, we have "test" for our login name, test123 is our example password and 'test@ogame.de' is our example e-mail address.

Now it's your turn to replace appropriate fields by your own data.

There are a few replies which you could recieve:

  • AuthServ- Account test is already registered. -- The Loginname is already in use. Chose another login name.
  • AuthServ- Account has been registered to you. -- To activate your account, you must check your email for the "cookie" that has been mailed to it. When you have it, use the cookie command to complete registration.
  • AuthServ- The account is registered. -- You should recieve an e-mail with an activation code

Warning: There is a few Providers who have put OnlineGamesNet on thier spam list , so you should check your spam folder as well, this e-mail usually gets though.

The e-mail comes from "Authserv" or "noreply@ogamenet.net and contains information over your IRC login account.

Example: This email has been sent to verify that this email address belongs to the person who tried to register an account on OnlineGamesNet. Your cookie is: u1sfw6og3X To verify your email address and complete the account registration, log on to OnlineGamesNet and type the following command: /msg AuthServ@Services.OGameNet.net COOKIE tester u1sfw6og3X This command is only used once to complete your account registration, and never again. Once you have run this command, you will need to authenticate everytime you reconnect to the network. To do this, you will have to type this command every time you reconnect: /msg AuthServ@Services.OGameNet.net AUTH tester your-password Please remember to fill in 'your-password' with the actual password you gave to us when you registered.

If you did NOT request this account, you do not need to do anything. Please contact the OnlineGamesNet staff if you have questions, and be sure to check our website.

What do we do now? Pretty easy, we just enter the command: [Image:ascookiereg.jpg]] and press enter.

If that works, you should get the reply: -AuthServ- Dein Account ist nun aktiviert (mit dem Passwort, dass du bei der Registrierung angegeben hast). Du bist nun mit dem Account eingeloggt.

If that shows up on the first try, Congratulations, you have successfully registered and activated your account on the OGame IRC server. If this has not worked, then something has gone wrong. In this case, ask the Support guys for help (support channel is #help).

STOP Don't close this page yet, we haven't finished!

and now? Right, maybe a cup of coffee first after all your hard work? No? Ok, then we will continue: We know: Every time we connect to OnlineGamesNet, we could use a new nickname. But how does the ogame server know who I am and that and that I should become operator rights in my Alliance channel? Now this isn't as hart as it seems: We have registered with a Username and Password. With EVERY connection to the OnlineGamesNet server, we have to say to Authserv "Hello, it's me!" How do we do this?with another command of course: Command: /AuthServ AUTH username password Our example: Image:asregauth.jpg and press enter again.

After this we should recieve the message: "-AuthServ- Du bist nun eingeloggt." If not, check your information, check that you have entered the username and password correctly. If all else fails, you can ask for help in the Support channel (#help).

For english users: After the registration you can now change the language to english, just type the following: /AuthServ set language C

Can this be simplified?

Yes, this can be simplified. There is a function in mIRC called "Perform". In the screenshot below, you can see how this works:
